I am an astrophysicist, the leader of the “Lendület Hot Universe” research group at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary and an associate professor (Docent) in the Department of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics at the Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. Using mainly space observatories, but also ground based and airborne telescopes, I study the hottest places and the most energetic phenomena in the Universe. Between 2008 and 2016, I was a member of the Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology (KIPAC) at Stanford University, with which I maintain strong collaborative ties. As vice-president of the Slovak Organization for Space Activities (SOSA) I am also involved in efforts to move forward space research in my home country Slovakia.
