Week 1  : Introduction to the Trees of Stanford (tree tour and lecture)

Week 2  :  Tree Identification Workshop and Tour – Sairus Patel; Guest lecture: The fire ecology of a Californian oak woodland  – Winslow Briggs

Week 3  : A Brief History of the Stanford Landscape (tree tour and lecture) – Juli Cain

Week 4 : The impact of drought on trees – Dave Muffly

Week 5 : Field trip to Jasper Ridge, Stanford’s biological reserve – Faculty and staff of Jasper Ridge Biological Reserve

Week 6 : The Stanford BeWell Community Farm – Patrick Archie;  ‘Edible Botany’ – the evolutionary basis of humans’ relationship with plants – Katherine Preston

Week 7  – Private tour of the tropical rainforest exhibit at the California Academy of Sciences; An introduction to tropical trees – Kelly McManus

Week 8  – Revisiting the trees of Stanford – Sairus Patel; The legacy of pre-colonial botanical trade – Anna Spudich

Week 9  – Student final projects

Week 10 – Student-led tours and Party with Trees Party
