    • Max = 180

Week of November 14th
  • Slides from the Assignment 6 YEAH hours have been posted under the Lectures tab. Thanks to all those who came!
  • Assignment 6 has been posted, and we'll be holding Assignment 6 YEAH hours, or Your Early Assignment Help hours, this Thursday, Nov. 17 from 7:30-9:30PM in Hewlett 201. YEAH hours are optional sessions, meant to provide additional help getting started with each assignment.
  • Midterm regrade requests were returned at the end of lecture today. If you didn't pick yours up, you can grab it from the "Handout Hangout", drawer #3. (The Handout Hangout is the lobby area next to Mehran's office, Gates 180).
  • Mehran's office hours this week have been moved from Wednesday (Nov. 16) to Friday (Nov. 18) at 11:00am-1:00pm. I apologize if this causes any inconvenience. After this week, Mehran's office hours will return to their regular time (Wednesdays 2:30pm-4:30pm).
  • The LaIR (CS106 helpers on the first floor of Tressider) will be closed over Thanksgiving break. The LaIR will be closed starting Friday, Nov. 17 and will reopen on Sunday, Nov. 27. Mehran and Nick will also not have Office Hours over Thanksgiving break.

Week of November 7th

  • Assignment 5 has been posted, and we'll be holding Assignment 5 YEAH hours, or Your Early Assignment Help hours, this Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 7:30-9:30PM in Hewlett 201. YEAH hours are optional sessions, meant to provide additional help getting started with each assignment.
  • Midterm re-grade requests will be accepted until Monday, Nov. 14th. As part of your request, you should provide a short write-up of the problem(s) on your exam that you think were misgraded and give it to Nick Troccoli (Head TA). Regrade requests need to point out the aspect of the problem that was correct, but for which points were taken off. We use a detailed rubric to grade exams, so simply requesting that an incorrect answer "should be worth more points" is not likely to result in additional points. Also, we reserve the right to re-grade the whole exam to make sure there are no other grading issues present -- this may result in a lower total score.
  • Graded CS106A midterms were returned after class on Monday, November 7th. If you didn't pick up your midterm after class on Monday, you can pick it up from your section leader in sections this week. After this week, they will be available in the "handout hangout", which is the lobby outside Mehran's office (Gates 180). The alphabetized (by last name) midterms will be in the labeled middle-bottom filing cabinet.
  • Statistics for the CS106A midterm (out of 120 points) are:
    • Median = 94 (78.3%)
    • Mean = 91.5 (76.2%)
    • Standard Deviation = 18.5
    • Max = 120
A histogram of the midterm scores is available here.
