John Matranga, Director of Customer Innovation and Ahmad Fattahi, Data Science Lead, OSIsoft

Bio

John Matranga is the Director of Customer Innovation and Academia at OSIsoft. John started in industrial automation in 1990 and has extensive expertise in technology vision, adoption, and global enterprise services. Focused on sensor based data for the past 30 years, his work has spanned the areas of software architecture, design, development and delivery for commercial software offerings in Cyber Physical Systems. Previous to OSIsoft, John was part of the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center and holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Lehigh University.

Ahmad Fattahi leads Data Science Enablement at OSIsoft. His goal is to enable innovation with data and data infrastructure for digital transformation of industrial organizations. His technical focus is performing advanced analytics and data science. He received his PhD in electrical engineering in 2008 from University of California, Los Angeles. He has been with OSIsoft since 2008.

Abstract

The talk will touch the historical perspectives of industrial automation data collection and analytics for process industries. Customer examples of Condition Monitoring, Predictive Maintenance, Process Optimization, Demand Forecasting, and others will be discussed as they relate to principles and data first analytics. Examples will be drawn from industries such as Oil & Gas, Electrical Infrastructure, Biopharmaceuticals, Food and Beverage, Metals and Mining, Water, energy management, etc. The tools in the samples will span commercial offerings of OSIsoft PI System, 3rd Parties and Open Source areas. The talk will end with a section on the future Industrial IoT and areas of advancement that widely exist in the market. This should enable an ongoing conversation on the subject
