Bio

Manish Marwah is a Senior Research Scientist in the Analytics Lab at HP Labs. He is conducting cross-disciplinary research in applying data-driven techniques to Internet of Things (IoT). His research interests include data mining, machine learning, sustainability, and distributed systems. His research has led to more than 55 refereed papers in conferences and journals; and resulted in 11 issued patents (and over 50 pending). He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Colorado at Boulder, and a B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

Abstract

In recent years, there has been a significant growth in number, size and power densities of data centers. A significant part of a data center power consumption is attributed to the cooling infrastructure, such as air handling units and chillers. Furthermore, non-renewable energy sources such as solar and wind are being explored for powering data centers. In this talk, I'll provide an overview of some of our research in data center energy management.
