Assignment 1 (Due April 15, 2002)

Write a 2-page, single-spaced memo to the Senator of Colorado.

-You are a staffer for a moderate Senator of Colorado.

-A Senate Bill, s.2048, is being introduced (http://thomas.loc.gov).

-A constituent is concerned about the impact of this bill on open source.

3 Questions:

1)      What is open source?

2)      How does the bill affect open source?

3)      How should this affect the Senator’s position on the bill?

Project Description (Due April 21, 2002)

Please email us 2-3 paragraphs describing your project.

Assignment 1 Rewrite (Due April 22, 2002)

We have handed back Assignment 1 with comments. Please make any necessary revisions and submit the final version.

Project Plan and Schedule (Due May 2, 2002 or May 3, 2002 depending on your meeting date)

We will have weekly meetings with Professors Simons and Felten to discuss our projects.   For the first one (which is either this Thursday or Friday for most of us), please come with a written plan and schedule. 

Project Rough Drafts (Due June 3, 2002)

Please submit a hard copy in class.

Project Final Drafts (Due June 10, 2002), by noon, Gates B28

Please submit two copies, along with the preliminary draft with feedback from us.
