VISDOM is an open source visualization tool that allows utilities to explore and analyze power consumption data from customer meters. Researchers at the Stanford's Sustainable Systems Lab are actively developing and using VISDOM using a massive dataset consisting of millions of timeseries with individual costumer electricity consumption. After an initial meeting, it was highlighted that a current missing and much desired feature is the ability to explore, and ask and answer questions that leverage the spatio-temporal aspects of the dataset.
Thus, this project intends to create an interactive visualization that allows users to explore dataset with spatial and temporal dimensions. The end result will be a frontend component that can not only be integrated to VISDOM, but also be used in other projects with strong spatio-temporal features.
