Problem Session

The CA will conduct weekly problem sessions on Thursdays 3:05 pm - 4:00 pm at STLC 118 (Map).


There will be weekly homeworks due Tuesday. You are encouraged to discuss problems with other students, but you must write your own solutions, appropriately citing help from books or online resources.

Programming Assignments

There will be 3-4 programming assignments spread throughout the quarter. These are intended to expose students to various real-life applications of probability and will involve a small amount of programming and simulation in Python.

Homework Party

We'll hold homework parties each week on Friday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in kitchen area, Packard 3rd floor. During these sessions, students can work on the homeworks/programming assignments and the CA/instructor will be available to provide assistance.


There will be one midterm and one final:


  • Homeworks: 20%

  • Programming assignments: 10%

  • Midterm: 25%

  • Final: 45%
