To entrepreneurs failure is an enigma: a necessary evil and an unrecoverable misadventure. In reality, most roads lead to failure and only after multiple attempts do entrepreneurs (and their companies) find a successful path. I'm here to share stories of success--through successive failures. And how truly embracing failure has made my ongoing ventures more profitable.

About the speaker:

Jonathan Siegel is the founder of Exceptional Cloud Services. He served as the company's Chief Executive Officer until its acquisition by Rackspace in 2012, where he is now director of product.

Jonathan has been active in technology start-ups, services and angel investing for 12 years. Prior to joining Rackspace, Jonathan was a Venture Partner at Accel, where he focused primarily on seed investment opportunities in the cloud computing, e-commerce and SaaS sectors. He also previously spent 10 years as the foudner of ELC Technologies (acquired in 2010 by PriceGrabber's Kamran Pourzanjani).

While at ELC Technologies, Jonathan founded three Ruby on Rails product businesses:, and RightScale is a leading cloud computing management platform. RightSignature is a profitable SaaS business serving marquee clients such as Farmer's Insurance, Second Market Equities and the American Bar Association. was founded as a copy and paste shopping cart platform that outperformed CPM and CPC units for monetizing product-related content sites. was acquired by in 2007.

Jonathan speaks frequently on the startup culture and cloud computing. He has been on Amazon Web Services' customer advisory board since 2008. Jonathan graduated with degrees in physics and computer science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
