A Bay Area native, Rick offers to the city of Palo Alto over 36 years in the electric power industry. Rick has a diverse electric knowledge base. He worked as a wind tunnel and flight simulator technician for NASA at Ames Research Center. He worked in electric construction on projects featuring the steam boiler plant at the Palo Alto Veterans Hospital, and the Oakland Air traffic control facility in Fremont, CA. Now with 15 years at Palo Alto, he is responsible for the maintenance and safe operation of the 115KV, 60KV and 12KV substations. With the cooperation of the Engineering department, his staff also maintains and upgrades the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system. This system is vital in the long term monitoring and operation of the system to bring reliable and safe power to the citizens of Palo Alto. He earned a bachelor’s degree in management from San Jose State University, and holds a California state electrical contractors license. He lives in Half Moon Bay, CA
All attendees must wear sleeved shirts, long pants, and closed toe shoes to be allowed on the substation grounds. No flip flops or sandals. A hard hat and safety glasses are also required. If you have your own, please bring it along but loaners will be available.
