C. philippinensis, the capillaria species of greatest concern to humans, is known to cause human intestinal capillariasis.
There are two other capillaria species that are less commonly of concern
C. hepatica, known to cause hepatic capillariasis; and
C. aerophila, known to cause pulmonary capillariasis.
