Morphology

 

A. caninum

o Adults - anterior end bent dorsally (the “hook”); supported by thick cuticle; has 3 pairs of teeth (count them in the picture!). Males are a 1/2 inch long, and are females 1/2-3/4 inches long.

o Eggs- 60 x 40 microns, ovoid, and thin-shelled.

 

A. braziliense


o Adults - anterior end bent dorsally; 2 pairs of ventrally located teeth with the lateral ones being large and prominent (a tooth is marked in the picture below). Males and females are both about 1/4 inch long.


o Eggs - 80 x 40 microns, ovoid, and thin-shelled.
