There is no specific treatment for human Sarcocystis infection.

Symptoms are generally self-limiting and mild. However, some authors have suggested the use of certain drugs. Examples are:

  • Albendazole for suppressing chronic symptoms of muscular sarcocystis infection
  • Metronidazole and cotrimoxazole (antibacterial) for eosinophilic myositis
  • Corticosteroids to reduce inflammation associated with muscular involvement
