Cysticercosis (also known as Taenia crassiceps infection) is an infection caused by the larval form of the Taenia solium (also known as Taenia armata and Taenia dentata) pork tapeworm. T. solium is a platyhelminth of the cestoidea class, the cyclophyllidea order and the taeniidae family. While there are many species of tapeworms in the Taenia genus (including the beef tapeworm T. saginata), only T. solium causes cysticercosis in humans.
