Medical Surveillance

Medical surveillance is the process of evaluating workers’ health as it relates to their potential occupational exposures to hazardous agents. Generally, affected workers undergo a work history, a medical history, and a medical examination. These elements establish a baseline of the workers' health, and are then used to monitor future health as it relates to potential occupational exposures to hazardous agents. Examples include:

• Tuberculosis screening
• Vision exams
• Respirator Use Clearances
• Hearing tests
• Focused physical exams
• Urinalysis
• Blood tests
• DOT Medical Evaluation
• POST Examination
