Inter-Parliamentary Union, Sustainable Development ° The IPU is the world organization of parliaments of sovereign States. Its concept of sustainable development encompasses not only environment as connected to economic growth but such vital issues as human development, social and economic justice, and advancement of democracy.

International Institute for Sustainable Development - a "clearing-house for information on past and upcoming international meetings related to environment and development policy"

OECD, Sustainable Development ° Reports and conferences on sustainable development.

UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Environment - UNIDO's main approach on sustainable industrial development is to build consensus on cost-effective environmental policies between the private sector, its representative bodies and appropriate political and administrative leaders in the ministries of planning, finance, industry and the environment.

World Bank Institute, Environment and Natural Resources (WBIEN) - promotes sustainable development in its social, economic, and environmental dimensions, by facilitating a learning dialogue and disseminating innovative approaches to sustainable development, primarily among policy-makers and opinion leaders. Topics include rural development and natural resources management.

Yearbook of International Co-operation on Environment and Development 1999/2000 - The eighth edition of this annual review includes the text of international agreements, links to IGOs and NGOs, and country profiles of OECD and five non-OECD countries in terms of their commitments and performance.

Africa

ADB Environment and Sustainable Development Unit ° This unit of the African Development addresses the cross-cutting themes of environment, population, gender, poverty reduction, NGO relations/local participation, and institutional development.

Southern Africa Environment Project "The natural environment is Southern Africa's greatest economic asset. The key to the economic development of Southern Africa is conserving and sustainably using that environment." Provides environmental education and leadership training.

Americas

Centro Latinoamericano para la Competitividad y desarrollo sostenible (CLACDS) - The Central American Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development was founded to help leaders in the private, public, and civic sectors implement changes promoting sustainable development. The site includes environmental project and research descriptions.

CorporaciŚn Andina de Fomento (CAF) - CAF is a multilateral financial institution whose mission is to promote the sustainable development of its shareholder countries and regional integration. Its members include the five Andean countries, Brazil, Chile, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Trinidad & Tobago

UN Association in Canada UNAC monitors and reports on the role and activities of the United Nations in sustainable development

Asian American Bank Environment and Sustainable Development ° Explains the bank's mission and lists publications for purchase and free, full text documents.

Sustainable Development Networking Programme (India) - Draws together events, case studies, publications, news, funding information and lists of organizations on a broad range of topics related to sustainable development.

Europe

European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Sustainable Development ° Environmental policy, procedures, and publications on sustainable development of eastern and central Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

European Partners for the Environment EPE brings together international, European, national and local public authorities, companies, trade unions, institutes, environmental and consumer NGOs to form consensus on sustainability. Areas of interest are sustainable finance, eco-efficiency and green purchasing.
