Interlibrary Loan

Swain Library understands the urgency of getting scientific information quickly, which is why we manage the document delivery for journal articles.

If Stanford does not own the material you need, patrons with SUNet IDs can request materials using the Interlibrary Loan on-line form. We will place the order and notify you via e-mail as soon as the item arrives. This is a free service to Stanford faculty, staff and students.

An experimental service that allows Stanford faculty and students to directly order patents is also available.

There is also the Reciprocal Services Program and the Research Library Cooperative Program that allows Stanford faculty and students to borrow materials from other campuses as well as receive expedited interlibrary loans.
