Academic Universe  [Help] - web access to selected Lexis-Nexis files. Stanford only.
Search for Company News or Company Financial Information. Results include full-text documents. Search Biographical Information to find information originally published in American Men and Women of Science and the Complete Marquis Who’s Who Biographies. Use Reference and Directories to use Forbes Annual Directory, Quotations, Eventline (directory of meetings and conferences), and other resources such as World Business Opportunities and the International Trade Show. Also includes many legal documents.

Web of Science (SciSearch) — Web version of Science Citation Index and Current Contents. Stanford faculty and students only.
SciSearch includes Science Citation Index and all of the Current Contents series as a web database. Pre-1974 years of Science Citation Index are at the Falconer Biology, Physics, and Lane Medical Library. Alerts, a current awareness service, that allows you to get an email message for new items on topics of interest, is also available via LANL.

Intellectual Property/Research and Development

In order to claim intellectual property rights, a number of companies publish research results in the patent literature rather than in the journal literature. Approximately 70% of the information published in patents is not duplicted in journal articles. Search by company name(s) to find information published by a particular company.

Derwent Biotechnology Resource (1982-) Stanford Only.
Published by Derwent, provides comprehensive coverage of publications describing research in the field of biotechnology. It covers all aspects of biotechnology, including genetic engineering, biochemical engineering, industrial uses of microorganisms, fermentation, enzymes and cell culture, plant propogation, and waste disposal, as reported in scientific journals, conference proceedings, and patents. Updated quarterly. Stanford has a limited number of logins. Please Logout when you are finished.

Delphion
Provides access to the bibliographic data and text of all claims of over 2 million patents issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) from 1974 to present. Also contains some patents issued during 1971-1973. Search by keyword, phrase, and patent number; Boolean searches with patent number, title abstract, all claims, assignee, inventors, and attorney/agent. Scanned images of full-text are available for patents issued from 1974-present and can be displayed for free. All patent references are hyperlinked for citation searching. BioTrack Online - The Harmonization of Regulatory Oversight in Biotechnology
BioTrack Online, the Web site of OECD’s Programme on the Harmonization of Regulatory Oversight in Biotechnology, was created in 1995, as a pioneer site at the OECD. BioTrack Online aims, not only to help Member country governments and industries with biotechnology product notifications/assessments, but also to make the information, developed by the Expert Group on Harmonization of Regulatory Oversight in Biotechnology, accessible to all who need it, including non-OECD countries that might find it useful. Information Systems for Biotechnology (ISB) provides information resources to support the environmentally responsible use of agricultural biotechnology products. Here you will find documents and searchable databases pertaining to the development, testing and regulatory review of genetically modified plants, animals and microorganisms within the U.S.
International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology
ICGEB is an international organization established to promote the safe use of biotechnology world-wide and with special regard to the needs of the developing world.
Regulatory Developments in OECD Member countries in Biosafety
Most OECD Member countries have a system of regulatory oversight in place to cover products of modern biotechnology intended for release to the environment. This page indicates (or will indicate)the responsible Ministry/Agency for each Member country, as well as indicating the relevant laws, regulations and/or rules, and Contact points. Information is provided on commercialized applications e.g. commercial field planting, product approvals etc.
