Coombe, Rosemary - Lecturer
Rosemary J. Coombe is Canada Research Chair in Law, Communication and Culture at York University in Toronto. She received graduate degrees in law and anthropology at Stanford University. She is the author of THE CULTURAL LIFE OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES (Duke University Press, 1998) and DYNAMIC FAIR DEALING: CREATING CANADIAN CULTURE ONLINE (University of Toronto, 2013) as well as journal articles and book chapters in cultural anthropology, cultural geography, cultural studies, and law and society. She is on the Board of the Political and Legal Anthropology Association and the Editorial Board of the Political and Legal Anthropology Review. She currently works on the globalization of intellectual property norms with emphasis upon traditional knowledge, local branding, geographical indications, cultural property politics, intangible cultural heritage and international human rights.
