PeopleSoft (version 9.0) is the system of record for academic and personnel administration at Stanford. Virtually all members of the Stanford community (students, staff, faculty, administrators, etc.) interact with PeopleSoft through the Axess portal. PeopleSoft applications at Stanford include:
- Human Resources Management System
- Student Administration (Admissions, Graduate Financial Support (GFS), Student Financials, Student Records, and Financial Aid)
- STARS (Stanford Training and Registration System)
Self-service options for students include the ability to enroll in classes, change address and phone information, view their University bill, accept/decline financial aid, and view course schedules, grades, and transcript information. Faculty and academic advisors can enter and change grades and view advisee class schedules.
Interfaces to and from PeopleSoft enable information to be immediately shared across systems, including the Registry, Oracle Financials, ID Card, Parking & Transportation, and others.
The business offices that oversee the use of the PeopleSoft system at Stanford include the Controller's Office, Financial Aid, Human Resources Services, and the Office of the Registrar.
Representatives from these offices meet regularly to determine system enhancement priorities and to resolve any business issues associated with using PeopleSoft. Administrative Systems provides ongoing development and maintenance support for the system.
The Axess portal and the PeopleSoft system are generally available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. On rare occasions the system must be taken offline for maintenance; Administrative Systems reserves 5:00 to 8:00am (Pacific time) on Saturdays and Sundays and 4:00 - 6:00am on Thursdays as maintenance windows. Notices regarding system maintenance downtime are posted on the Axess login page in advance.
All members of the Stanford community can login to the Axess portal to use self-service features of PeopleSoft. However, access to directly use PeopleSoft modules for administrative work requires special authority. Department staff must complete required training and be explicitly granted PeopleSoft authority via Stanford's Authority Manager. See the PeopleSoft Training Center for details.
