Overview

The Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) is a public charitable organization whose aim is to promote goodwill between the United States and Turkey and to enhance a better understanding of Turkish American issues through public education. 
TCA established a variety of scholarship programs to support its educational mission and offers a wide range of scholarship opportunities for various minority groups in the U.S.  Scholarships are awarded each year to Armenian American, African American, Native American, and Hispanic American students who wish to study abroad in Turkey, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), or Bosnia and Herzegovina.  Scholarships range from $500 to $2,000 per student.

The Awards

Candidates for a Turkish Coalition of America Award for African American, Hispanic American or Native American Students:

  • $2,000 for a semester or year at a Turkish, TRNC, or Bosnia and Herzegovina university
  • $1,000 for Turkish language studies at a Turkish, TRNC, or Bosnia and Herzegovina university
  • $1,000 for summer programs four weeks or longer at a Turkish, TRNC, or Bosnia and Herzegovina university
  • $500 for summer programs four weeks or less at a Turkish, TRNC, or Bosnia and Herzegovina university
  • $500 for participants in a university or college sponsored study tour to Turkey, TRNC, or Bosnia and Herzegovina

Candidates for a Turkish Coalition of America Award for Armenian American Students:

  • $2,000 for a semester or year at a Turkish or TRNC university
  • $1,000 for Turkish language studies at a Turkish or TRNC university
  • $1,000 for summer programs four weeks or longer at a Turkish or TRNC university
  • $500 for summer programs four weeks or less at a Turkish or TRNC university

Eligibility

Candidates for a Turkish Coalition of America Award for African American, Hispanic American or Native American Students:

  • Must be U.S. citizens and permanent residents of African-American, Hispanic/Latino, or Native American ethnic origin
  • Must be enrolled full-time and in good standing at an accredited U.S. college or university
  • Must be accepted to a study abroad or language program at a university in Turkey, the TRNC, or Bosnia and Herzegovina; or to a university sponsored study to Turkey or the TRNC
  • Must be willing to share their experiences in Turkey or the TRNC with the TCA community and Diversity Abroad

Candidates for a Turkish Coalition of America Award for Armenian American Students:

  • Must be U.S. citizens of Armenian ethnic origin
  • Must be enrolled full-time and in good standing at an accredited U.S. college or university
  • Must be accepted to a study abroad or language program at a university in Turkey or the TRNC; or to a university sponsored study to Turkey or the TRNC
