Posted on February 11th, 2013 in Program Highlights

Sally Burns (International School of Monterey), Arooj Syed (Learning Options- San Jose), and Anne Ingraham (Pescadero High School) have received our K-12 field trip grants. Through this program, over 100 middle- and high-school students will visit the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford and receive a docent-guided tour of the 2011 Jameel Prize: Islamic Art Inspired by Tradition Exhibition. The grant program is organized in collaboration with the  Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education (SPICE) and the Cantor Arts Center. Please stay tuned from reflection papers by the grant recipients and participating students, and also consider visiting the exhibition which is on display until March 10, 2013.  The 2011 Jameel Prize explores long-established practices of Islamic art, craft, and design within a contemporary framework, and is organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London in partnership with the Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives. Its presentation at Stanford is made possible in collaboration with Cantor Arts Center and by the generous support of the Cantor Arts Center Members. Admission to the museum is free.  Please click here for more information about the exhibition.
