Software Licensing Quarterly Report

Highlights in January-February-March 2010

  • Completed reviews, sunsets, contracts and renewals for licenses listed below.
  • Renewed licenses for our three largest client user bases: Matlab (over 2,000 clients), SPSS and SAS.
  • Successfully resolved difficult Tivoli renewal and true-up purchase, averting possible IBM audit.
  • Continued to examine secure/trackable ways to download software.
  • Continued to build and document our new software order system, creating new workflow and documentation around it.
  • Provided demo of the system to our colleague at UCLA.
  • Worked with UNIX Systems and SULAIR to upgrade software on cluster machines.
  • Provided outreach to IT Services project managers to offer Software Licensing services on projects. Of note is the Google
  • Search Appliance retirement and web search alternative planning.
  • Began work on complex negotiation and contract addendum for an ELA for NetApp software.
  • Group participation and support for the ITS-ERT, TIPS and SSP groups continued. Two members of the staff certified in CPR, First Aid and Wilderness First Aid.
  • Collaborated on producing a tech briefing about SAS JMP and a vendor presentation about Comsol MultiPhysics software faculty, research staff, and grad students.
  • Participated in SAS meet and greet with original founder/programmer.
  • Participated in BigFix meet and greet with new rep, Wes Alles.
  • Participated in IT Open House where we provided information to approximately 300 people.
  • Adjusted services and workflow to accommodate staffing changes.
