7:30 AM Breakfast, 8:00 – 9:00 AM session
Main Dining Room, Stanford Faculty Club, 439 Lagunita Dr, Stanford, CA.

The fast-paced tech industry mints winners and losers almost daily. So how does a mid-sized competitor win against industry giants? What does it take to outmaneuver bigger, better-funded competitors to win hearts and minds?

Though Polycom had been an innovative leader in communications and collaboration technology in the 1990's, overtime, public perception began branding Polycom as "that conference phone company" synonymous with the triangular phones you see in conference rooms around the world, while Cisco took the #1 position in the video conferencing industry. By the time Miller stepped into the role of CEO in 2010, there was a general expectation that Polycom would not survive.

Not only has it survived, but it is re-inserting itself as a prominent force in its market. Since becoming CEO, Miller led the planning and execution of a multi-year plan that fundamentally changed Polycom from a company primarily focused on hardware and point products, to a global innovation powerhouse that is software-led and now taking on the giant in its space, and winning.

In this session, Andy Miller shares his leadership insights on what it takes to turn-the-tide.

You will learn:

•    How to identify the core differentiators and strengths of your organization and develop a long-term, sustainable strategy around them

•    How to choose the right leaders that are ready and skilled to take on the strategic task at hand
•    Strategies to break through misperceptions – both internally and externally - and build momentum and support for your vision
