Orientation for new residents at Oak Creek is mandatory. The orientation meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, January 9th at 6 pm, Saturday, January 12th at 2 pm, and Monday, January 14th at 6 pm in Elliott Program Center (589 Governor’s Corner, Stanford CA). You must attend one of these orientation sessions before an Oak Creek ID card will be issued (used to access gym, pool, etc., and required for every Oak Creek event).

A Student Housing Oak Creek Apartment Room Condition Form is available on-line at http://www.stanford.edu/group/ugfrontdesks/cgi-bin/oakcreekrcf.fb.  Please carefully complete this form, as you run the risk of being charged for any damages not noted. If you have any questions about completing the on-line Room Condition Form, please contact the Governor's Corner (GovCo) Housing Front Desk.


Important Oak Creek Information

Laundry rooms are located on the 4th floor of each building. The cost is $3.00/load ($1.50 to wash, $1.50 to dry). You can purchase a laundry card and load money onto it on the Eucalyptus Room. The cost for a laundry card is $5.00. Laundry hours are posted in the laundry rooms.

Contact the Oak Creek Administration at 650-327-1600 from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Outside of these hours, undergraduates may contact their RAs for assistance. After 5:30 pm any student may contact the Oak Creek Courtesy Patrol at 650-537-0858 from 5:30 pm to 12 midnight. There is an $85 service fee.

You may also contact the Housing Emergency Maintenance Hotline at 725-1602 to request lockout assistance from the Housing Access Response Team (H.A.R.T). Please be aware that since the HART team is dispatched from the Stanford campus there will be a time delay in HART’s response to the lockout. The fee for lockout assistance from HART is $75.

R&DE Student Housing has provided the following utilities in each apartment:

  • Gas/Electricity
  • Water/Sewer/Garbage
  • Telephone - local and domestic long distance telephone service. International calling is not provided as part of the service, and you must not use the University phone for international calls.
  • Wireless Internet Connection

Oak Creek Apartments Guest Policy
You may only have 2 guests at a time in the common areas of the complex (such as the pool) and you must be with your guests at all times.

5-SURE Escort Service
If you need an occasional ride home at night, you can call the SURE Escort Service at (650) 725-SURE. They can provide a free ride home, and operate 7 nights a week.

Bicycle Parking
Residents of the Oak Creek complex must register their bikes with the administration office, and bicycles must be parked in the bike cages located in the garage area of each building or in the bike racks. If you receive an Oak Creek key to a bike cage, you will turn it in to the GovCo Housing Front Desk (HFD) when you move-out.

Oak Creek Club House Renovations
The Oak Creek Club House will be closed for renovation January 2nd through April 17th.  The Fitness Center and Aerobic classes will be relocated to the Willow Room during the renovation. The Eucalyptus Room will serve as lounge area where you will find Coinmac Laundry Card machine, fax and copy machine, coffee, Wi-Fi and other regularly scheduled Oak Creek resident activities.

General Information

  • Quiet Hours run from 10:00 pm through 8:00 am with no exceptions, 7 days per week.
  • There is a $75 charge for a lost Oak Creek ID card or if you don’t return the Oak Creek ID card when you vacate. When vacating, return your Oak Creek ID card, parking permit and keys to the GovCo Housing Front Desk.
  • There is a $5 charge for a lost parking permit.
  • Lock change fee is $115, plus $5 per additional key if a key is lost or not returned when you vacate.
  • Please remember to turn off the lights and heat when not in use to conserve energy.

If you have any issues with the furniture in your apartment, including desk or floor lamps, please contact the GovCo HFD. For all other repairs (e.g., dripping faucets, appliance issues) please contact Oak Creek staff at (650) 321-9761 during business hours or (650) 537-0858 for urgent repairs after hours.

Internet Connection

Stanford provides internet service through Comcast. Students may need to purchase their own Ethernet cables to use wired internet connections in their apartment.

If you encounter an issue with your internet connection, you should contact the Comcast National Support Center at 866-511-6489. Select option #3, then option #2 for Teleworker service. This is the number for Comcast’s National Accounts Support Maintenance/Repair and is available 24x7x365. Teleworker service support personnel are well equipped to assist you with any issues you may be having and/or troubleshoot the problem to resolution. Tip: Before calling for tech assistance, first try powering down the modem and try connecting again, as many issues can easily be resolved in this manner. If the problem is determined to be with the wireless router, please contact Housing Assignments at 650-725-2810, as the routers were supplied by R&DE Student Housing.

Parking and Transportation

Oak Creek has ample uncovered, unreserved parking available on a first come, first served basis. Each apartment comes with one reserved parking space in the building’s garage. Permits for these spaces can be picked up from the Governor’s Corner Housing Front Desk. Important: Please be sure that you are parking in the space noted on the Oak Creek information sheet you received at check-in to avoid having your vehicle towed. If you can't locate your apartment parking space information, please contact the GovCo Housing Front Desk. All vehicles parked on Oak Creek premises are required to have a permit. These permits can be picked up from the Governor's Corner Housing Front Desk if you did not receive one upon check in.

The Marguerite Shuttle - SLAC line stops at the intersection of Sand Hill and Stock Farm Roads and runs Monday-Friday from 8 am - 9 pm. In addition, there is a new service (OCA Evening Express) that will run between Oak Creek Apartments and Tresidder from 9 pm - midnight, 7 nights a week.

Commuting students may purchase a “C” permit from Parking and Transportation Services. If you will just be parking on campus occasionally, you can pick up a daily “C” lot permits for $4.50/day at Parking and Transportation Services or the Stanford Bookstore.

Updates from Housing Assignments

Housing Assignments has moved!

Housing Assignments is now located in the Galvez Modular (482 Galvez Mall, Suite 110).

Leaving for Spring Quarter? Not planning to Enroll Spring Quarter? Undergraduates sign Residence Agreements for the entire academic year. Only students who terminate their enrollment or enroll in a Stanford program away from campus (i.e., Stanford Overseas Studies, Stanford in Washington, or Hopkins Marine Station) are released from their housing contracts. Students who move off campus while still enrolled will be held liable for housing charges for the entire academic year. You can apply to cancel your housing agreement and read more information about this process through the R&DE Portal in Axess.

If you terminate your undergraduate contract at the end of Spring Quarter, you must move out by noon on Saturday, March 23rd.

Deadlines and Fees for filing a termination notice for the end of Spring Quarter 2013:
Feb 8th                     Last day to file a termination notice without a fee
Feb 9th-Mar 8th       $100 fee to file a termination notice
Mar 9th-Mar 22nd   $250 fee to file a TOC termination notice
After Mar 22nd        $450 fee to file termination notice after this date

Oak Creek Specific Information:

Students wishing to move to the main campus can submit a reassignment request form through the R&DE Portal in Axess. Oak Creek residents will be reassigned as space becomes available after demand from un-housed students has been met. The reassignment administrative charge is waived for Oak Creek residents moving onto campus.


Avoiding a Bedbug Infestation

A worldwide problem. Bedbugs are a growing, worldwide problem brought about by increased travel and decreased use of pesticides. Bedbugs have been found in five-star hotels, college residence halls, hospitals, and virtually all other types of housing throughout the United States. Though bedbugs are very rare at Stanford, and we have had only a few isolated cases in recent years, we need your assistance to avert and contain future cases. As bedbugs are brought into buildings and into people’s belongings, here is what you can do to help:

  • Read “What You Should Know about Bedbugs” on the R&DE Student Housing Website for important information about the prevention of bedbugs and Student Housing’s response to this problem.
  • If you discover or suspect bedbugs, immediately contact Student Housing. Do not attempt to eradicate them yourself. Successful treatment must be carried out by a trained professional. Contact your Housing Building Manager or Front Desk Coordinator. After hours, please call our maintenance emergency line at 725-1602.
    • Check crevices in suitcases and backpacks for bed bugs and their eggs.
    • Do not put your suitcases or backpacks on or underneath your bed until you have inspected them.
    • Wash and dry all clothing that you have taken with you on your trip before putting things away in your room/apartment.
    • Don’t bring second-hand furniture items home. They can be a common breeding ground for bedbugs.
