Communication Skill Salon on Apr. 10th

On Apr. 10th, the ACSSS Advising Program hosted a communication skill salon at Graduate Community Center. About 60 Chinese students attended this event. The invited speaker, Eunice Buhler, is a sophomore here at Stanford, with extensive social experiences. She is now an active member of Stanford Consulting. Before she came to Stanford, she was the founder of ‘Culture for Youth’, a non-profit organization that teaches young people about cultures and promotes cultural acceptance. She worked with both the World Bank and the U.S. State Department and currently serves on the Youth Service America Advisory Council.

In this salon, Eunice gave  a one and half  hour talk on how to communicate in both casual and formal cases; how to appreciate American humor and jokes and the etiquette for different social situations . She brought up with many interactive parts in her talk. The audiences were invited to participate in imitating real life situations. They also asked Eunice questions about what they concerned. Many of the students feel that the event was great and they learned something from it.
