Category Category

This is the "Category" page to group pages on long term trends in American (and global) culture. Factors that might/ will influence the design of our scenarios.

Trends collects materials that feed into our research questions but might not be directly or only relevant to car culture. Being on the wrong side of Hubbert's Peak will have ramifications beyond simple availability and price of gasoline/ petroleum (availability of plastic components?). Other possible additions might be pages on "customizability" as a broad trend -- not limited to cars/ automobiles but within the workplace, on the computer desktop etc. Can we predict that people will want more freedom to customize their mobile media in their cars, based on trends in computer design or tendencies to decorate their real (as opposed to virtual) desktops?

David Platt: I thought that it might be useful to separate out and group pages that deal with long term trends in US and global culture, using the "Category Template." Hopefully, this will make analysis a little easier.

David Platt: After our meeting on Wednesday (notes coming soon), I wanted to brainstorm a few trends that might have an impact on our scenario design. Please feel to add, re-write, critique the ideas that I've put up so far. Additional links, pictures, ideas are all very welcome.

David Platt: I've made this a key page as, hopefully, it will serve as a reminder of some of the work that people have already done on future trends in the USA. Remember that, in order to make the "category list" at top of this page work in the way intended, you have to include a link to this page in your topic page.
