CyTOF is a powerful single-cell flow cytometry technique capable of simultaneously measuring the expression of over 40 molecular species in each of thousands of cells. It uses antibodies coupled to rare earth metals as mass tags. Labeled cells are nebulized, and the cellular contents and tags are ionized and measured by time of flight (TOF) mass spectrometry.

We are applying CyTOF to understand muscle stem cell diversity, healthy and pathological states, cellular pathways, markers for isolation, and therapeutic targets, with unprecedented levels of detail.
