A smoothed particle hydrodynamics method for coupled gas-porous media flows
We develop a new method for simulating coupled gas-porous media flows using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH). SPH is a mesh-free particle method commonly used to model gas dynamics. We couple gas and porous media with a “dusty-gas” formulation for high porosity regimes and a Darcy flow formulation for low porosity regimes. We discuss motivating applications for developing this method, including gas impingement in space-related environments and liquefaction prediction.Author(s):
