[WITHDRAWN] Mechanical on the Interface of Dowels and Surrounding Concrete under Wheel Load and Temperature Gradient

Though dowels are indispensable in the joint of rigid pavement to share load between two slabs, the interface of dowels and surrounding concrete has become the critical point of damage. Therefore research on the mechanical response at interface of dowels and surrounding concrete were done to study how stress concentration and yield of concrete that lead to crack happen.
The distribution of stress and strain of concrete in contact areas of dowels and concrete under wheel load and temperature gradient was studied. What’s more, the point where concrete is about to yield, and the developing trend of cracks were found. Besides, the imperceptible deflection of the dowels which was often neglected in former research was studied.
The objectives of the research were realized by a very fine simulation of the behavior of dowels and concrete with a 3D finite element model and a reduced scale test. Few simplifications were made so the results are closer to real conditions. The parameters of the model such as the friction coefficient at the interface were obtained by laboratory test.
