Emma Cobert is a senior majoring in International Relations and interested particularly in Poland. Since studying abroad in Poland and Russia she has been pursuing a Modern Languages minor in Polish and Russian. She grew up in the Boston and New York metro areas, dancing from a young age but training seriously beginning in middle school in the Massachusetts Youth Ballet and Boston Ballet School, where she performed a wide range of Balanchine as well as classical repertoire. She has attended the summer schools of San Francisco Ballet and Miami City Ballet and performed alongside professional dancers from Boston Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and New York City Ballet. At Stanford, she performed in an original work by choreographer Amy Seiwert through the Dance Department and has been an active member of Cardinal Ballet for three years, where her repertoire has included classical ballet, original neoclassical and contemporary choreography, and jazz. Although she aspires to a career in Polish foreign relations or international business, dance remains her most beloved hobby.

Alison Law, ‘10

Alison is a senior majoring in English with Honors. She is a native of Reedsport, Oregon. Alison received her dance training under Connie Hogge and Joan Sanders-Seidel at Pacific School of Dance. She also spent summers with Summer Dance Lab at Whitman College and North Carolina School of the Arts. At Stanford, Alison has been an active member of Cardinal Ballet and has served as Freshman Liaison and Associate Executive Director. For the past two years, she has acted as stage manager for Urban Nights Dance Fusion. Academically, Alison is interested in English literature and digital humanities, and studied abroad in Santiago, Chile and Oxford, England. She is currently working on her English honors thesis on representations of Jane Austen in contemporary culture.

Ali McKeon is a senior at Stanford University majoring in English and minoring in Dance.  She was born and raised in Maui, Hawaii and received most of her dance training there with teachers Osmani Garcia (Smuin Ballet), Virginia Holte (Chicago and Indianapolis Ballet), and her mother, Kathleen McKeon.  During the summers she has trained with LINES Ballet, American Ballet Theater, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, and for the past two summers, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago.  She is active in the Stanford Dance Department and has performed in works by Amy Seiwert, Robert Moses, Parijat Desai, Todd Eckert, Quinn Wharton, Garen Scribner, and Diane Frank, and has choreographed for the dance show cases. She will graduate in June 2011 and hopes to pursue a career in dance.
