Mailing List and News Group

We use an electronic mailing list to make announcements to the club. To subscribe to (or unsubscribe from) the mailing list, go to https://mailman.stanford.edu/mailman/listinfo/true-north.

Once you are a member of the list, you can send emails to the group by sending an email to true-north@lists.stanford.edu.

We also have a newsgroup for the club: su.org.canadian-club. This has been organized to minimize traffic on the mailing list, which can get quite heavy in response to contentious developments at home. If you're using a web browser, you can access the su.org.canadian-club newsgroup here. Please carry all discussion threads over to the newsgroup and use the mailing list for announcements only.

Club History

In November of 1994, a few students got together and formed a Canadian student association at Stanford. During the meeting, a constitution was written and signed by all present and two officers were elected. Peter Giles was voted Prime Minister and Adrian Butscher was voted Finance Minister. Our official name is: The Canadian Club: A Distinct Society of Canadian Students at Stanford. The goal in forming this group was to provide Canadians with an opportunity to meet each other on campus through various academic and cultural activities. With over 300 students currently enrolled, Canadians are the third largest foreign student body at Stanford. (Visit Stanford's Bechtel International Center for more details.)
