Add Material for Activity Wizard

On the Admin Schedule page, click the Add Material link at the bottom of the activity's description to launch the Add Material for Activity wizard.

Step 1

There are 3 ways to link content to an activity.

  1. Upload a file from your computer: This is the quickest and easiest method. Click the Browse button. A window will appear that allows you to search your computer. Find your file, then click Open. Click Next to advance to Step 2. Click Cancel to exit the wizard without making any changes.

  2. Link to a URL: This method allows you to link to a Web page. Type in the URLincluding http://. The best way to enter a URL is to copy and paste the information from a second browser. Click Next to advance to Step 2. Click Cancel to exit the wizard without making any changes.

  3. Link to content previously added to this course:This method allows you to select from a list of files that you have previously added to your course. Click Next to advance to Step 2. Click Cancel to exit the wizard without making any changes.

Step 2

If you selected Upload a file from your computer or Link to a URL:

Select one of the options that describes the copyright status of the content you are adding or linking to your course. Click Next to advance to Step 3. Click Prev to go back to Step 1 and make changes. Click Cancel to exit the wizard without making any changes.

If you selected Link to content previously added to this course

Select the file to which you wish to link. Click Next to advance to Step 3. Click Prev to go back to Step 2 and make changes. Click Cancel to exit the wizard without making any changes.

Step 3

Enter the title of your file. It is optional to enter information in the description and author fields.

From the drop-down menu, select the file format. The file format describes the functional or representational type of the document. File type choices were submitted by faculty and cover many types of material. If your course materials do not fit one of these types, select Unknown from the drop-down menu. In many cases the file format (e.g. PDF, HTML) will be automatically listed for a file. If not, you will have to select the file format.

If you selected Link to content previously added to this course, title and file format information are automatically populated.

Click Save to save changes made up to and including this step and exit the wizard. Click Next to advance to Step 4. Click Prev to go back to Step 2 and make changes. Click Cancel to exit the wizard without making any changes.

Step 4

Preview how the file will appear on the Schedule page. Click Save to save and post the file on the Schedule page. Click Prev to go back to Step 3 and make changes. Click Cancel to exit the wizard without making any changes.

Final Step

In the final wizard screen, CourseWork reports that you've successfully posted a file on the Schedule page. Click OK to exit the wizard and return to the Admin Schedule page. Click Add Another to repeat the process if you have multiple sets of content to post for the activity.
