Admin Discussion allows you to link an online discussion site to your course Web site. Discussions in CourseWork are currently handled by external 3rd-party applications. You can link a discussion tool of your choice to your CourseWork site or use CourseForum, an open source discussion tool available through CourseWork. When you request a CourseWork site, you can ask for CourseForum to be set up and accessible via your site.

If you did not originally ask for CourseForum to be set up with your CourseWork site but would like to add it now, click the HelpSU link at the bottom of any screen and submit your request.

The advantage of using CourseForum in your CourseWork course is twofold:

  • CourseWork passes user information to CourseForum, which allows you and your students to use the forum without having to first subscribe or register,

  • CourseForum is protected by Stanford University's Web Authentication, which limits access to only those with appropriate SUNet IDs and passwords.

Online Help for CourseForum is provided within the CourseForum application. For help, click on the FAQ link at the top of the CourseForum window.
