Short Bio

Emma Gorst is a PhD candidate in the University of Toronto Department of English, working on a PhD on the manuscripts and meanings of late medieval English lyrics. She has published an article on Old English poetry in Notes and Queries and has further articles forthcoming in Chaucer Review and New Medieval Literatures. Ms Gorst has a background in computer programming: in 2009 she was a visiting student at the University of Cambridge where she created a database of descriptions of surviving Middle English lyric manuscripts and began to model the networks to which these manuscripts belonged electronically. In 2007 she worked as an assistant to the Parker on the Web project.
