The Stanford Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Grappling club is a safe and friendly place to train submission grappling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques. We have excellent instructors, and we offer 6 practices per week. See our times and location below. If you're interested strengthening your game, learning to defend yourself, or just a fun way to get a good workout in, we'd love to have you.

We're located on the Stanford campus, in the Arrillaga Center for Sports and Recreation (ACSR). Our practices take place in the mat room, right by the front door as you walk in.
Alberto is a 2nd degree blackbelt under MMA veteran and 4th degree blackbelt Ricardo Barros and Judo blackbelt under Olympic Trials silver medalist and Sr National Champion David Williams from the legenday SJSU Judo team. Earning his BS in Kinesiology from SJSU during his journey to master his craft, Alberto possesses a massive amount of technical knowledge, skill and experience. Alberto is the founder of Team Daruma Dojo and the head BJJ instructor at UFC Gym Sunnyvale and SJSU. Alberto teaches our Monday and Wednesday evening classes.
Gene is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under Marco Nascimento and his instructor Adilson "Bitta" Lima. Gene began training through the club programs at Brown University. Gene has trained with Geoff Balme of Gracie Barra Boston at Brown and Gustavo Dantas of Nova União in Arizona. Upon moving to California in 2007, Gene began training under Marco Nascimento of Peninsula BJJ in Foster City. Gene has won gold at the 2008 American Cup; silver at the 2008 and 2009 U.S. Open, and the 2009 Pan American Championship; and bronze at the 2008 American National Championship.
