Cannabinoid type 2 receptor (CB2)

One of two currently known cannabinoid receptors. Cannabinoid receptors are cell-membrane receptors that allow the binding of cannabinoid molecules. Some of these cannabinoid molecules are natural products of the body while others can be introduced externally. CB2 receptors are most commonly found in the immune system and are especially produced by microglia in the brain.
