low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol

Commonly known as ‘bad cholesterol’. LDL cholesterol is made of lipids and proteins, with more lipid than protein. It carries cholesterol and fat through the bloodstream. High levels are associated with an increased risk of atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.
