Program Benefits
About I-RITE

A university-wide implementation of I-RITE/I-SPEAK allows for a wide range of positive outcomes deriving from the instructional process and subsequent use in society:

RESEARCHERS use their I-RITE statements and I-SPEAK talks to:

  • give academic job talks and industry seminar presentations
  • give presentations in departmental research seminars
  • write research and dissertation proposals and grant applications
  • construct teaching portfolios
  • extend knowledge of their research activities to colleagues at Stanford and beyond

DISCIPLINARY RESEARCH GROUPS AND LABORATORIES use program results to

  • serve as a basis for discussions with related research teams at Stanford and beyond
  • better disseminate their research

INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH CENTERS use program results to

  • summarize current research activity for brochures and websites
  • foster multi-disciplinary connections and collaboration opportunities

DEPARTMENTS use program results to

  • reach out to alumni with updates on department research
  • form a basis for regular seminar presentations
  • post I-RITE statements on their department website to promote interest among graduates
  • recruit undergraduate students for participation in research projects

A UNIVERSITY AS A WHOLE use program results to:

  • foster shared goals of investigation and discovery
  • develop a wider "intellectual community" of students and faculty
  • enhance teaching and learning throughout the University
  • reach out to primary and secondary schools to share the wealth of its research knowledge
  • help the wider community understand the significance of its research efforts
