We’re a group of Stanford undergrads, ranging from freshman to seniors, who want to get research news out to YOU! Here’s who we are:

Alan Aw

Alan Aw

Managing Editor

Alan likes trees, tea and truffles. A junior majoring in Mathematical and Computational Science, Alan has written for Asian Scientist and Plus Magazine. Through telling stories about epiphanies and discoveries, he hopes people will become fascinated and more familiar with the world of research.

Aron Tesfai

Aron Tesfai

Managing Editor

Originally from the Midwest, Aron is a sophomore studying Economics and Public Policy. Outside of LYNX, he spends his time doing NGO consulting, writing for the Political Journal, and working with the NAACP. When he's not pursuing academic interests, you can find him traveling, dancing, or out in a hammock in the woods.

Kate Nelson

Kate Nelson

Founder

Kate is the founder and former managing editor of LYNX. A senior at Stanford, Kate is studying Human Biology with a focus on Global Health Policy and Infectious Diseases. She's also a producer for the Stanford Storytelling Project where she's been able to develop her love of all stories. You might also find Kate with an antique typewriter, or baking cupcakes. This year, Kate is a Co-Editor-in-Chief of SURJ.

Sandip Roy

Sandip Roy

Staff Writer and Editor

Having read Richard Feynman’s masterpiece, “Surely You’re Joking, Mr Feynman!” at a young age, Sandip has had a passion for asking big questions and communicating them to others through writing for as long as he can remember. A confused freshman considering a major in mechanical engineering and physics, Sandip enjoys spending his free time playing the classical guitar, learning how to build satellites with the Student Space Initiative, working on projects with the Undergraduate Senate and learning as many new things as he can.

Michelle Chang

Michelle Chang

Staff Writer and Editor

Michelle's philosophy toward research is that, no matter how impactful a researcher’s findings may be, those findings are rendered useless if no one else knows about them. LYNX is at the intersection of her passions in psychology and journalism—allowing her to serve as a liaison between academia and the public. In her free time, Michelle watches documentaries on anything from sushi chefs to identity theft, or tends to her 1-centimeter-tall succulents.

Catherine Gao

Catherine Gao

Staff Writer and Editor

An avid writer, Catherine loves anything from journalism to science fiction and could spend days typing up a story. She is also interested in medicine and psychology and spends her free time reading, scoping out new restaurants, and raving over all the Harry Potter movies.

Ankit Baghel

Ankit Baghel

Staff Writer and Editor

Ankit is a sophomore from Albany, NY majoring in the Biocomputation track in Computer Science. Outside of LYNX, he is a co-executive of the Advising branch of SPA, a member of SHIFT's Health++ hackathon planning team, and a Phoenix Scholar mentor. In his free time, Ankit enjoys playing the piano and running.

Chloe Leblanc

Chloe Leblanc

Contributor

Chloe is a freshman at Stanford. She is a volunteer for UNICEF, a member of the BASES (Business Association of Stanford Entrepreneurial Students) Frosh Battalion and a board member of the IUC (International Undergraduate Community). Her hobbies include learning foreign languages, baking, sunbathing and babysitting.

Kyle Lin

Kyle Lin

Visual Director

Kyle is a sophomore from Houston majoring in biological chemistry. He loves research, writing, and writing about research. Kyle plays chaser for the Stanford Quidditch team, and he enjoys running, golf, Ultimate Frisbee, and ping-pong. He conducts research at the Carnegie Institute to develop genetically-encoded fluorescent biosensors. His spirit animal is the penguin, his favorite Star Wars movie is A New Hope, and his favorite mythological warrior is Hector.
