Facilities Overview

The Digital Laguage Lab is located on the 1st floor of Lathrop Libray. The area contains 1 drop-in space and 3 classrooms. The drop-in area is not usually scheduled for classroom. For scheduling the classroom, please contact Amy Keohane (akeohane at stanford dot edu).


Common Features in Language Lab area

smart wall paintSmart Wall Paint:Some of the wall in the language lab area are coated and paintedto be able to write with dry erase marker. The area and rooms are equipped with the rail shelf such as the image on the right. The wall with this rail shelf allows you to write on the wall with dry-erase markers.

ceiling projectorprojector screenA Ceiling Projector in the classroom: The classrooms 191, 197 and 198 are equipped with the ceiling projector. It is Panasonic EZ570 and the screen size is 57"H x 92"W. The projectors can be attached to the HDMI and VGA cables.

wall-mounted projector2 Wall-Mounted Projectors and Boards: All rooms and area are equipped with 2 wall-mounted projectors and boards. The projector is Epson PowerLite 485W and the board is TeamBoard Interactive Whiteboard and its size is 48.2"H x 85.5"W [16:9 aspect ratio] Normal dry erase markers can be used on the whiteboards.

Video capture cart: capturecart All classrooms are equipped with a video capture cart so that recording can be conducted during class and the recorded file can be saved quickly and uploaded to Canvas. These carts use an iPad Air with shotgun microphone attached and a special video recording app is installed. Documentation: How to use the video capture cart [ PDF]

dropin199 Drop-in Area:This area is primarily used by students dropping in for online assessments, multilingual writing, skyping, and voice recording. It is not regularly scheduled for the class use

198 Computer Classroom: (=Meyer 280C)This room is used for instruction, online assessment, and hands-on training. Student's projects and activities. It is also used for showing orientations.

197 Classroom: (=Meyer 280D)This room is designed to accommodate the full range of classes taught in the language center, from the beginner levels to more advanced levels

191 Language Learning Studio: (=Meyer 280E) This room is designed to facilitate instruction at the full range of classes taught in the language center, from the beginner levels of basic listening and speaking, to more advanced levels of writing and presentation.

195 and 196 "TouchDown" Instructor's Meeting Spaces : The "Touch Down" spaces (Lathrop 194 and 195) are spacifically designed for the instructor's to use the rooms to have the interview, discussion, and meetings with 1 or 2 students. Instructor's Use Onlyimage of the room 194 and 195
