Stanford defeat Stanford GSB in 2nd Annual Thomas B. Klein Cup

Wednesday October 9th
Stanford, Ca.

The Stanford Men’s 7′s Squad came from behind on Wednesday night to defeat the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) 24-19 in overtime to retain the Thomas B. Klein Cup for consecutive years and the second overall year of the Cup. The Thomas B. Klein Cup is competed for in a 7′s rugby match between the Stanford Undergraduates and Stanford GSB. Prior to the Cup Match featuring both teams best, both teams welcomed newer players to get their first live action of rugby in inter-squad scrimmages. The Cup Match was followed by a BBQ and Stanford Rugby Foundation Member Tom Dickson (’84) spoke to both teams prior to the game about the Stanford Rugby experience, and presented the trophy after.

The Thomas B. Klein Cup was named after Tom Klein, who attended Stanford as both an Undergraduate and GSB student. While at Stanford, Tom was a fantastic rugby player during some of Stanford’s best rugby years. More recently, Tom was instrumental in the creation of the Stanford Rugby Foundation.
