THE EDUCATION PROFESSION: BENEFICIARY OR CASUALTY OF 30 YEARS OF EDUCATION REFORM?

Abstract


This article asks the question of whether the education profession has benefited or suffered due to the education reform trends and dynamics of the past 30 years.  Specifically, the article discusses some of the major education reform trends derived from the 1983 Nation at Risk report and focused on improving the teaching profession.  The article follows with suggested research and policy considerations related to the investigation of the impact of 30 years of reform on the education profession.
