Twenty performers will present the dance, music, costumes, and
customs of diverse regions within Iran & its neighboring regions, including
Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, and Afghanistan.

Since its founding in 1977 by Anthony Shay, AVAZ International Dance Theatre has traveled nationally and internationally presenting the dances, music, costumes and customs of diverse regions of the world from Hungary & Croatia, Greece & Turkey, Saudi Arabia & Azerbaijan, and Iran & Uzbekistan. Dr. Shay's emphasis is on preserving and performing traditional & folk dance and music from a wide variety of cultures as well as educating the widest possible audience about these art forms and the societies and peoples they represent. He has just been awarded a James Irvine Fellowship in Dance as one of the eight top choreographers in the state of California.
