Sun Microsystems has an immediate opening for a software engineer to work on
the accessibility of the Java Operating System.  

DESCRIPTION:

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Design and implement accessibility support in JavaOS;
  maintain and support. Coordinate JavaOS development work with industry
  partners. Cultivate relationships with vendors of Real Time Operating
  Systems; negotiate inclusion of accessibility technology. 

  MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Review designs and code for other accessibility
  support. Develop prototypes and demos of JavaOS and assistive technology. 

  REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: SW design and development in Java and C;
  experience with WindowsNT, X windows. Development of device drivers. 

  PREFERRED: Assistive technology (e.g. screen readers, speech input); JFC,
  AWT, JDK. 4-5 years experience; BSCS, MS preferred
