GSA Offers Accessibility Training
From: Federal Computer Week - May 29, 2000 - page 30

The General Services Administration is offering free technical training for
Webmasters who are responsible for making their agency World Wide Web pages
accessible to people with disabilities.

GSA's Fedderal IT Accessibility Initiative (FITAI) is responsible for the
governmentwide coordination of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1998,
which requires agencies to make all electronic equipment and information
systems, including Web sites, accessible to people with disabilities.

GSA has set July 26 as the deadline for agencies to make accessible their
principal Web pages, typically the home pase, as well as the site's top 20
Web pages, as measured by traffic volume.

FITAI is offering the free half-day Web Accessibility Training Program
starting May 31. It also will be broadcast on June 27 and July 5 to field
locations with satellite downlink capability.
