Handheld, Portable Keyboard
From: NASA Tech Briefs, 08/2005 - page 37

Existing computer keyboards require the typist's palms to be in an
uncomfortable rotated position, which may cause Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Most
keyboards also require a physical support - such as a desk - and do not allow
a person to move freely while typing.

A portable, handheld keyboard system enables ergonomic, ten-finger typing
using mechanical and touchscreen technology, and a transparent keyboard. The
keys are placed onto the back of the keyboard, allowing users to contact the
keys comfortably while the keyboard rests in the palm of their hands. Since
the keyboard is transparent, a user also has full view of the keys at all
times. A standard "QWERTY" keyboard configurstion can be directly transferred
so that memorized ten-finer key positions are maintained. Other key patterns
can also be used to maximize typing ease and efficiency. This keyboard is
suitable for applications in gaming, indistrial controllers, handheld
devices, and military applications.
