The new Samsung watchphone is a cell phone and wristwatch in one. Scheduled
to be released in the second half of 2000, this nifty gadget will also reduce
the risk of cell phones being lost or left behind. 

The watchphone has no keypad. Instead, proprietary, speaker-independent,
continuous-speech technology from Conversa is embedded so users can make and
receive phone calls simply by speaking in their natural voice. Users can
program frequently called numbers by voice. The watchphone will also include
a function that will read out e-mail messages. 

"We believe this product represents the future of the wireless market,
whereby voice-driven transactions are combined with the functions of a
wireless communication handset to offer exceptional portability," says Ki Tae
Lee, executive vice president and general manager for Samsung`s wireless
terminal division. 

The watchphone weighs 1.7 ounces including battery. It is just 2.7 by 2.3
inches in size and 0.8 inches high, but packs 90 minutes of continuous call
time and 60 hours of standby time into its small form factor. It has a
graphic LCD display and comes with an ear microphone and a vibrating alert so
your employees won`t have to deal with the potential embarrassment of
standing around and talking to a ringing wrist.
