SIG-11 Chair Duties and Responsibilities
- Newsletter
- Prepare a bi-monthly newsletter for the RESNA Newsletter.
- Topics can include: summary of RESNA activities, requests for names of
persons willing to serve in positions (e.g. committees, paper reviewers), info
about people wanting to coordinate interdisciplinary courses/sessions, new
products, information on getting involved, etc.
- Budget
- Review SIG-11 budget, yearly plans, and goals. Send update to SIG
chairperson as requested.
- Instructional Program
- Try to actively encourage participation in the presentation of courses of
seminar at the annual conference.
- Reviews
- Coordinate paper and instructional course reviews with review committee.
- Organize accepted papers and courses into sessions.
- SIG-11 Computer Applications Developers Forum
- Contact manufacturers and developers about SIG-11 developers forum, and
contact Susan Leone about room, time schedules and food and beverage requests.
Form a committee and start early.
- RESNA Leadership
- Contact SIG chairperson about any items that may need consideration at
January and June RESNA board meetings.
- Send a gentle reminder to subcommittee leaders and offer support if
necessary.
- Contact people developing interdisciplinary courses and offer support as
needed.
- Answer occasional questions about Computer and RESNA forwarded by RESNA
office.
- Monitor progress of subcommittees and SIG-sponsored activities.
- Keep updated on new members - RESNA will send new member packets as
available (check with Terry Reamer for updated on this).
- Respond to other RESNA business and mailing as appropriate.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary activities with other SIG chairs.
- Coordinate activities with related professional organization. (e.g. USSAAC,
ASAA).
- Welcome Packet
- Develop SIG-11 new member packets for this RESNA if necessary.
- RESNA Conference
- Before Conference
- Determine agenda for SIG-11 meeting and contact any necessary persons for
info.
- Prepare handout of SIG-11 focus activities for RESNA attendees.
- At RESNA
- Attend SIG chair meetings (usually two during RESNA).
- Lead SIG-11 meeting and Developers Forum (be sure to update
names/addresses, especially new members).
- Attend and support as many SIG-11 and interdisciplinary activities as
possible
- Attend RESNA membership meeting
- After RESNA
- Send thank-yous to session chairs and other significant efforts by SIG
members.
- Type notes of SIG-11 meeting (may be a first draft of SIG-11 newsletter for
July).
- Send new member packets to new members identified at meeting.
- Elections
- Conduct elections for SIG-11 office every other year.
- Bylaws do NOT describe how this is to be accomplished. We elect a SIG
chair and vice chair. It would be good to look at voting by mail for those SIG
members who can not make it to the conference.
