Stroke Survivors - We need your help!


  • Have you had a stroke in the past eighteen months?

  • Do you have weakness in one arm?

  • Do you have trouble using this arm to complete daily tasks?

If you answered yes to the above questions then you may be eligible to participate in a study sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs in Palo Alto, CA!

Answer these questions to see if you are elible to participate in the study.

Purpose: This study will test the effectiveness of 2 different Physical Therapy treatment approaches. Both approaches have the goal of improving ability to perform daily tasks with the weak arm, and each subject will receive both types of therapy.

Benefits: Each eligible subject will receive 60 one-hour sessions of physical therapy for the affected arm. There will be no cost to you or to your insurance company. Screening and testing will also be performed in separate sessions to determine eligibility, to ensure safety, and to measure progress. Because this is a research study, we cannot guarantee that volunteers will receive any physical benefits.

All participants are eligible to receive reimbursement for transportation expenses.
